There are plenty of chargers on the market that aren’t by the original device makers, which some may prefer due to the (typically) lower price. Be careful with what you buy, though, as chargers of poor quality are much more likely to cause issues and accidents.
Most USB wall sockets have a limited amount of amperage, and if the wall socket has more than one USB port, the current will be shared between them. Trying to charge two tablets together at the same time will result in slow charging, but if something malfunctions, it could overload the socket.
Charging-only USB cables can’t transmit data, only charge devices. This makes them more secure than their normal counterparts. While the risk is low when using USB wall sockets at home, you might consider using a charging-only cable in public instead.
While USB wall sockets are physically safe, there is always a chance of foul play with public sockets. Even when plugged into a wall socket, devices still transmit data via the USB cable, and this allows hackers or viruses a way in.
Unused USB charging cables still draw current, heating up the cable a little bit. While unlikely, there is still a mild chance that it could heat up something flammable like a towel, especially if the outlet or cable malfunctions. Removing the cables eliminates this risk, and also saves a bit of money on your electric bill.
